Awaji Kawara Magnetic Needle Rest with Needle Polisher
Awaji Kawara Magnetic Needle Rest with Needle Polisher
Couldn't load pickup availability
A flower-motif magnetic needle rest made from glazed Awaji kawara (traditional Japanese roof tile) clay on Awaji Island, Hyogo. Crafted by Irakato using local clay and tile-making methods with roots dating to 1610. Glaze variation makes each piece unique.
A built-in magnet holds needles during work. A side hole holds a needle polisher: insert the needle tip slowly into the side hole and pull through. For stronger polishing, insert the needle, then move it back and forth while pushing up the logo on the bottom, rotating as needed. Wipe abrasive residue off the needle with a soft cloth before sewing.
We recommend
Resting and polishing sewing needles as you work.
